Service Details

Nalco’s Legionella Testing Service contributes directly to key intangible value drivers that do not appear on financial statements, by improving the customer experience, increasing worker productivity and enhancing brand equity.

The Legionella Testing Service also contributes indirectly by creating value for external stakeholders, including communities, public interest groups and regulatory agencies. Maintaining positive stakeholder perception influences intangibles such as company reputation, relationships and license to operate.

Other Legionella species are also reported. EHS provides you with an extensive portfolio of services and the ability to test for a variety of microbial organisms including:

  • Legionella
  • Pseudomonas
  • Sulfate reducing bacteria
  • Molds
  • Fungi
  • Protozoa
Is testing Required?

Environmental sampling for Legionella is not required, but may be helpful in providing a safe environment for employees, visitors, patients, clients, and tenants. Developing a management plan for waterborne pathogens, which may include testing, helps facilities remain within the guidelines for OSHA and JCAHO (for healthcare facilities).

What can testing determine?

Analysis of water samples from a source suspected of being contaminated with L. pneumophila is a valuable means of identifying potential sources of the disease. We can determine the number of organisms present in colony forming units (CFU) per volume of water and can identify the different serogroups of Legionella pneumophila in the sample.
